Rush's Limelight included in Guitar World's 100 Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Songs

The August, 2011 issue of Guitar World magazine is a special issue featuring their list of the 100 Greatest Classic Rock Guitar Songs. Rush's Limelight made their list at #25 and you can see what they say about the song in the attached scan. Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb made the cut at #20 and their write-up includes comments from Alex Lifeson on the song and guitarist David Gilmour (see attached scan) taken from a previous Alex Lifeson interview.

De vez en cuando por llevar camisetas de Rush ha habido peña con la que he hablado de la banda y tal, de si algún dia vendrán por aquí, etc. Pero recuerdo un dia que iba por el barrio cruzando una calle ( con camiseta incorporada) cuando se me acerca un autobús de la ciudad y me echa las luces. Pensé que lo hacía porque cruzaba sin mirar y cuando se puso a mi altura se para el bus y el tipo me señala la camiseta y me dice: "los mejores". Asentí a su afirmación flipando mucho, era un tipo de esos que te encuentras por la calle y nunca pensarías que es fan de Rush.

Despues de comprobar la cantidad de gente que mueven de por aqui, e incluso los que vienen repitiendo por toda la gira y encima sabiendo que si tocan en pais nuevo varian el set list... yo ya lo veo clarisimo.

Las cajas "Sector" tienen una pinta cojonuda, cada una trae un disco con DVD con sonido DTS 5.1, en la 3 viene el Signals, en la 2 Farewell To Kings y en la 1 Fly By Night; probablemente me pille la 1ª próximamente, el formato en replica de vinilo es una cucada y el libreto con fotos de la época una pasada cheers

Rush Photographer Andrew MacNaughtan Dies

Andrew MacNaughtan, a photographer who worked with Rush among other music stars over a long and successful career, died last week in Los Angeles while working with the Canadian power trio.
The Toronto Star reports that MacNuaghtan, in his mid-40s, had a heart attack during a photo session with Rush on Wednesday (Jan. 25). The band issued a statement on this tragic event via their official Facebook page:

“We’re deeply shocked and heartbroken to learn of the sudden passing of our close friend and longtime photographer, Andrew MacNaughtan. He was a sweet person and a very talented artist. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed.”
MacNaughtan won four Junos (the Canadian Grammy); three for album design and one for his work on the 2003 ‘Rush in Rio’ live DVD. He also worked with Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and the Tragically Hip among many others, in addition to magazine and commercial work.

The Sun reports that MacNaughtan’s latest project was a photo journal entitled ‘Grace: Africa in Photographs.’ The proceeds from that book went to a charity he started, named Art Gives Hope. He had also donated autographed prints of some of his most famous photographs to this foundation, which worked together with World Vision to help African children in need.
