We are sorry to hear of the death of Anita Lane one of the creative powerhouses who emerged from the vibrant Melbourne post-punk scene. Her maverick spirit and artistic and literal brilliance saw her become involved in the explosive brilliance of the early Birthday Party co-writing songs like A Dead Song, Dead Joe and Kiss Me Black with her then-partner Nick Cave and there were more future collaborations with the Bad Seeds. Her key part in that scene saw her work with various members of the loose collective of Australian mavericks and their new brightly shining friends in Berlin and London as well as her own lost gems of solo albums that underlined her own shooting star creative brilliance.
