Despues del excelente JOURNEYMAN’S WAGER disco que no deja de crecer desde el dia de su publicacion ya va siendo hora de que Chuck Mead se deje caer por aqui.Sr.Azkena si esta avispado podria conseguir dos conciertos excelentes por el precio de uno Chuck Mead/BR549.

I'm sending out an extra message this month because there is an extraordinary event occuring that needs to be shared.
The original five members of BR5-49 - Gary Bennett, Shaw Wilson, Jay McDowell, Don Herron and myself - are reuniting for the first time in over ten years at the Woods Ampitheater at Fontanel in Nashville for a show with Old Crow Medicine Show on Saturday, July 28th. The last time we all played together was December 29, 2001. We'll kick the dust off of your favorites from the old BR days and shake it in an beautiful outdoor setting with good friends. I hope you can make it down to Music City to be involved in that happening! Show starts early so get there early!

It's been quite sometime since I don't know when.
The GKB's have had quite a Summer so far. We left June 28th and headed west for the Big Sky country and a month long tour. We met some fabulous folks along the way, played a lot of great joints, swam in Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, had a very fabulous 4th of July party on a mountain with a very old friend, had a horse shoe tournament, played some more gigs in the Great Northwest including a surprise appearance by Gary Bennett at the Portland show, then down the California Highway 1, saw some Million Dollar Quartet folks in Santa Monica, cut across to Phoenix where Shaw Wilson sat in on drums, played some more horse shoes, stood on the southern rim of the Grand Canyon and on the edge of the meteor crater, blew through Amarillo, headed up to Jim Thorpe, PA and Wilmington, DE with the Old Crow boys, hit New York City HARD, saw someone from Kansas at most of the gigs, and had ice cream sandwiches at every stop.
Now THAT'S Summer.
Thanks to everyone who came out and don't forget to bring your cousins next time!
In the middle of all that, Million Dollar Quartet Chicago celebrated a milestone by performing the show for the 2000th time! That's a lot of shows. That made MDQ the longest running show in Chicago history. Everybody who has ever been on Team MDQ should be very proud. I know I am.
This month we're headed into the studio to record the next record of original material. Needles to say, I'm pretty excited to be getting into the studio again. We're set for a Spring release date if all goes well.
Also, I'll be joining my former band mates in BR5-49 for a little reunion show in Havelock, Canada on August 17th so there's that!
We have a marvelous Fall planned for you all including dates with the great Billy Joe Shaver so check out the tour schedule!
And don't forget, soon there will items available for free that you can only get by being on this mailing list!

On February 28th, 2013, Chuck Mead (of BR549) recorded Upstairs at United Vol. 8. Chuck graced the sacred space with 6 songs including cherished BR549 fan favorite, ''Opie And Me (Down By The Duck Pond)''. Upstairs At United Vol. 8. is the first of the series to have pedal steel captured to magnetic tape and we hope it won't be the last. The recording stands as a real honky-tonk throw down that we're proud to welcome to the Upstairs at United series. Upstairs At United is a series of all analog, direct to tape, live studio recordings, taped above the pressing plant in tribute to the rich historical significance of that space.
Accompanying Chuck in the classic country romp is Mark Andrew Miller (Upright Bass & Background Vocals), Carco Clave (Steel Guitar, Banjo, Electric Lead Guitar, and Pedal Steel), and Martin Lynds (Drums & Background Vocals).
Upstairs At United is a series of all analog, direct to tape, live studio recordings, taped above the pressing plant in tribute to the rich historical significance of that space.
Each song in this session was recorded in a single take direct to ¼ inch tape then cut at 45 RPM for the ultimate listening experience.
