Hola!,hace poco me compré el album "In-a-gadda-da vida" de Iron Butterfly, porque leí por ahí que fueron unos de los pioneros del Heavy Metal por la voz de ultratumba del cantante y por lo "oscuros"que sonaban..Mi pregunta es ¿son realmente buenos?¿cual es su mejor disco para vosotros?,la verdad es que este álbum está muy bien,sobre todo el tema de 17 minutos que da el nombre al disco,y por lo novedoso que debía sonar por aquella época

Creo que tienen por lo menos otros 2 discos (no los he escuchado, se dice que no estan a la altura de estos dos).

Yo retomé de la estantería el "In-a-gadda-da vida" hace unos días y la verdad es que es un disco que me deja frío, quitando la canción homónima, el resto ni fú ni fá. Cuestión de gustos...

de los butterfly los tres primeros son imprescindibles, sobretodo el heavy, es acojonante.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida me encanta, tanto el tema homónimo como el resto de temas, es un disco muy disfrutable una vez que se le pilla el gusto. El resto de su discografía no me gusta tanto, aunque Heavy y Metamorphosis son grandes álbumes también.

Veteran rock journalist David Fricke calls the double disc ‘Fillmore East 1968′ compilation, “The sound of hard-rock immortality in the making.” It’s the best 22 songs from the early spring performance, captured on a half-inch four-track recorder and meticulously restored to today’s standards. The album will be out on Oct. 18.

The majority of the songs are from the Los Angeles band’s debut album ‘Heavy.’ Included are multiple versions of ‘So-Lo’ and ‘Iron Butterfly Theme.’ The band also previewed songs from their second album including ‘Are You Happy,’ ‘My Mirage’ and the title track, the legendary ‘In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.’

“These recordings, from that spring weekend in 1968, catch Iron Butterfly — and ‘In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida’ — at a transformative point and ferocious pitch,” Fricke, who also wrote the liner notes, says. “A great acid-garage band with sharp pop instincts, hardened and tightened by long service on the Sunset Strip, about to establish a lasting definition of heavy rock.”

The band has had multiple lineups since forming in 1966, the four members at the time of this recording were lead singer/organist Doug Ingle, bassist Lee Dorman, guitarist Erik Brann (just 17 at the time) and drummer Ron Bushy.

no habia visto tu cita, pues me interesaria que me dijeras que tal esta de calidad de sonido porque es un disco de esos que me tienta comprarlo pero al final dudo y no cae nunca, que es de la epoca del ball entonces? el ball con las escuchas se ha puesto a la altura del heavy en favoritismo, que puñetero discazo.

otro hilo a poner en lo mas alto
acabo de acerme con una copia en mono de "heavy" y madre mia como suena...
"Ball" es un discazo pero "metamorphosis " esta en lo mas alto de su discografia (despues de "heavy").
"in a gadda..." se quedaria debajo de estos tres,casi al mismo nivel que "ball".
Despues de estas cuatro obras miseria y destruccion.
Nada interesante y el grupo practicamente disuelto, pero al menos dejaron 4 pepinazos para la historia...

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida es mi preferido de ellos y una obra maestra sin igual, ese bajo y esas melodias de la voz con esa atmósfera oscuro festiva.... Me quedo con la cara A, la disfruto más.

Esta es la que más me mola del disco.
