"I came up with the idea for the song "Boy Crazy" when myself and the band were all drinking at SXSW and I was reminiscing for a bit about how a friend and I used to like to go to my little brother's baseball games and flirt with all the boys on the team and people would call us Boy Crazy. When you're young you don't know why you like someone, you just have all this energy, but when you grow up there is less innocence and you get called all kinds of horrible names like "slut" if you go around dating a baseball team's worth of dudes. It gets increasingly difficult to navigate relationships/friendships with others as you grow older especially as a woman. I wrote the rest of the songs in the month or so after that discussion, except for the song "Lover's Spat" which I had originally written about Jeffrey Dahmer for my side project. We rehearsed for about a week and then went into the studio with a couple thirty packs and knocked it out. It's my rock and roll tribute to baseball pants and youth."

On February 18, 2014, Lydia Loveless (https://www.bloodshotrecords.com/artist/lydia-loveless) will release her new album Somewhere Else (PRE-ORDER LINK - https://www.bloodshotrecords.com/album/somewhere-else) on Bloodshot Records. The new release will be her fourth overall and follows this year’s limited-release EP Boy Crazy and 2011 breakout Indestructible Machine.

Somewhere Else was recorded and mixed at Sonic Lounge, just outside Loveless’ hometown of Columbus, OH. The new album finds Lydia writing from a new-found place of conviction, crafting 10 songs that are stark in their honesty, self-examination, and openness. Without ditching the ribald, spit-in-your-eye attitude of her previous recordings, these songs assert bold stylistic choices, alongside baring themes of insatiable desire, unrequited emotion, and mistake-making on life’s crooked path.

Sólo he escuchado el single de momento, estaba esperando a que apareciera en Spotifai. Hank lo dejó regular en el Popu. Creo que básicamente decía que es un poco tristón en comparación con el anterior. Me da a mi que esta chica ha estado sumida en una depre de caballo o algo por el estilo, a tenor de su deterioro físico y de las crónicas de los conciertos que hizo hace poco por aquí.

El primero no lo he catado pero por lo que os he leido es mucho mas rockero que este ultimo trabajo.
No la he visto en directo ni se nada de sus posibles depresiones o cambios fisicos,es mas,me he introducido en su obra por vuestros comentarios y este ultimo "Somewhere Else".
A mi me ha parecido un disco maravilloso.Un gran album de country-rock.
Y la voz de la niña tela.

En realidad este último es el tercero. El segundo es el que era más rockero (en un sentido Steve Earle del término). Sí, tiene una voz prodigiosa, pero me temo que vaya a seguir el tortuoso camino de muchas estrellas country o de la misma Lucinda Williams en lo personal. En todo caso que sea un disco más tortuoso no quita que pueda ser tan bueno o mejor que el anterior. A ver si lo cato.

Vuestro concepto de deterioro físico me resulta aterrador.

Salir a los conciertos con cara de zombie más que nada. En las nuevas fotos de promoción no se la ve mal, pero en la gira por las fotos que vi y los comentarios sobre su actitud escénica se la veía un tanto jodida.
