New Box Set Featuring America's Classic Albums Arriving in July
featuring America‘s first eight albums will be released on July 17. America: The Warner Bros. Years 1971-1977 includes all seven of the group’s studio albums with its original trio lineup — Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek — as well as the 1977 America Live collection, the first record issued following Peek’s departure from the band.
With its breezy acoustic-rock sound and melodic harmonies, America found major success right from the start of its career. The band topped the Billboard 200 with its self-titled 1971 debut, which included the #1 hit “Horse with No Name” and the #9 single “I Need You.”
That album went on to be certified platinum for sales of 1 million copies in the U.S., as did its follow-up, 1972’s Homecoming. The group’s sophomore effort featured the #9 hit “Ventura Highway.”
Among the group’s other major 1970s hits was the chart-topping 1975 single “Sister Golden Hair,” as well as such memorable tunes as “Tin Man” and “Lonely People,” which both reached the top five of the Hot 100.
All the discs in the box set come in CD sleeves that replicate the original albums’ art and inserts, all packaged in a clamshell box. The music featured in the collection is taken from America’s 2014 audio masters. The America: The Warner Bros. Years sells for a suggested list price of $54.98.
After Peek left the band, Bunnell and Beckley carried on as a duo and still perform as America today. Sadly, Peek died in 2011 at the age of 60.

Consisting of early recordings, demos, and rehearsals spanning 1970 - 1975, these recently unearthed tracks provide the listener with a "you are there/fly on the wall" experience of America working out their soon-to-be classic hits such as Horse With No Name, I Need You, Ventura Highway, and Sister Golden Hair. Also included are unreleased and alternate takes of some of the more "deep cuts" in the catalog such as the alternate Rainy Day from the Chalk Farm Sessions, various Buzz studio rehearsals and the America Hearts album sessions.

And if you listen closely, you might find a hidden bonus track of the band’s first #1 single from 1972, a cappella!
