La siguiente lo mismo, cojonuda... Shazam y... Ted Nugent otra vez!

This is totally unrelated to my post below about Priest getting in, as I was planning to write this a week ago, before I heard anything about Priest...
Saw an interesting clip on Youtube.
Ted Nugent was on Fox and Friends or something and they were fawning all over him that he should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Then they flashed a tweet from David Crosby who said something like “He ain’t f***in’ good enough.”
Then Ted insulted him and said in no uncertain terms that he’s blackballed by Jann Wenner and the gang of voters
Fair enough, I’d say there’s a 75% chance he is.
So I got to thinking, if I were sitting there with those guys, what would I say? Should Ted Nugent be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Here’s my answer.
First, the politics. Should that be a negative? I’d say no. Should it be a positive? I’d say no.
I think the responsible thing would be to set the politics aside. Which, refreshing, David Crosby actually did. Surprisingly.
So let’s address “He ain’t f***in’ good enough.” Because as direct as that statement is, it’s exactly how we should approach this.
So here’s what I think. Should Ted be in a long time ago. No friggin’ way. Should he be nominated right now? I don’t think so. Should he get in some time in the next five years. Yes. Here’s why.
He’s been playing live since the late FIFTIES.
He was in a medium-sized psych band who put out three albums and toured nationally in the late ‘60s.
Pretty iconic US psych hit with “Journey to the Centre of the Mind.”
Persevered in the early ‘70s when no one was looking and made four more albums.
Recorded for Frank Zappa’s label.
Ingrained as a pretty dependable staple of the mid-west rock scene.
Had seven records out before he broke. This is like Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac. Persistence.
From 1975 to 1980, was as big as Heart, Aerosmith, Kiss, Styx. Bigger than Blue Oyster Cult and Rush.
Ted Nugent – double platinum, Free for All – double platinum, Cat Scratch Fever – triple platinum, Double Live Gonzo! – triple platinum (essentially 1.5M double albums), Weekend Warriors – platinum, State of Shock – gold, Scream Dream – gold. That’s huge.
“Stranglehold,” “Cat Scratch Fever.” Actually the story around lasting hit songs is quite horrible. It’s arguable that not even these two are pop culture staples. This is actually the Achilles Heel of the whole thing—Ted’s music is not continually celebrated or critically lauded.
Way better guitarist than any body gives him crredit for, in terms of riffs, feel, memorable, lyrical leads. Plus he was a feedback innovator early on.
Through the ‘80s, kept getting up in the morning and going to work. Crap albums but all were on major labels and he kept touring hard.
In the ‘90s, the Damn Yankees, a forgotten supergroup, and crap, but who are we to judge? Debut goes double platinum, second and last goes gold.
Recap on the Damn Yankees. This is Ted’s THIRD wave of fame. Basically, he finds a way to be among the hair band winners of old folks, like Kiss, Alice Cooper, Heart and Aerosmith.
Fairly quite in the ‘90s, one crap album, but still touring.
Super important point to me (like the forgotten Damn Yankees point but also important) is that in my opinion, Ted’s last three albums, Craveman, Love Grenade and Shut Up and Jam! Are three of his best ever. That is huge to me. Ted is making excellent new music, although the pace has slacked – hey, he’s in his late 60s with two blown knees.
Post this important point, he continues to shake it about live, clocking in and around 6600 shows at this point. In other words, he’s been going to work in the industry that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is about for almost 60 years.
That’s it. To boil it down: success as a psych band, one of the big acts of the late ‘70s, hair metal success, works really hard.
So… if the politics could be ignored, and I’m not sure they can, I feel surely next year, the one after, or the one after that, Ted qualifies to go into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
